About Dental Crowns
To repair and protect cracked teeth, yellowing enamel, substantial decay, and more concerns, dental crowns go over the whole tooth. At DentalWorks - Pewaukee in Pewaukee, WI, crowns (also called caps) are sturdy, long-lasting covers that fit securely over the visible portion of the tooth for patients where dental decay is too big to be healed with a composite-resin filling or if the patient's tooth is cracked and requires protection. Crowns can also be added to cover an off-color tooth or to increase the stability to a dental bridge. Crowns by our dentists at DentalWorks - Pewaukee can be metal, porcelain, or ceramic, based on the location of the crown. The back teeth generally need the added strength of metal, whereas the social teeth look more attractive with porcelain or ceramic crowns, which are shaded to blend with the patient's natural teeth.

"I had never been to Dental Works before, my insurance changed and I needed to change my dentist. From day one they treated me like family, (I am not a fan of dentists , and they made me feel at ease)...At my initial appointment I explained to them my lifetime wish to have white teeth, guess what? I have white teeth, I received veneers on my top teeth and I could not be happier!..I never thought I could afford veneers but with the help of Kim at the front desk and Dr.Adl I could have what I wished for my whole life. THANK YOU DR ADL and Kim....you are the best. So glad I made the switch to Dental Works.😊😊😊😊"- D.H. / Google / Sep 11, 2019
"Dr. Adl and his staff have been wonderful treating an infected tooth I had with a root canal procedure while in my third trimester of pregnancy. They always made sure I was comfortable while also making sure my baby was safe with the antibiotics I had to take with the infection and also using multiple aprons while getting x-rays. Dr. Adl even finished my root canal while sitting up as it got very uncomfortable to lay flat for a long period of time. Kim and Corinne made sure all insurance aspects were completely taken care of making it a very easy process for me. The dental hygienists were all so kind and personable making dreadful appointments much more enjoyable. I'm so grateful and appreciative for the staff at this location! Would highly recommend to anyone!"- E.V. / Google / Sep 04, 2019

What to Expect
To craft a customized crown, our dentists first prep the tooth by taking off a slim layer of enamel before taking digital X-rays and physical impressions of the tooth, which will be delivered to a dental lab. A temporary crown will be placed over the tooth while the permanent, custom crown is being made. Once the permanent, custom crown is returned to DentalWorks - Pewaukee in Pewaukee, WI, our dentists will carefully fit and set the crown over the tooth. Our dentists can modify the crown for a more comfortable fit.
Some patients can have short-term soreness or heightened tooth sensitivity, however most patients don't experience any discomfort once the crown is placed. With correct home care and recommended dental cleanings and exams, a dental crown can remain in place for at least ten years, depending on the material and placement of the crown. It is possible that a cavity or infection can develop in the tooth under the crown, which usually requires a root canal therapy or another procedure.
If the dental crown is deemed medically necessary, dental insurance companies may cover some or most of the expenses, so our office staff at DentalWorks - Pewaukee in Pewaukee, WI will consult with the insurance company to calculate their coverage as well as the patient's personal costs. Estimated expenses, payment options, and financing plans are available in our office in Pewaukee, WI and can be explained during the patient's meeting with our dentists.
